Buy a Car from Dubai and Take It Home — Export to Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain & Kuwait

GCC buyers already know Dubai has the best prices and the widest selection. The part that stops people is the paperwork — RTA export certificate, export plates, MAKASA report, SABER compliance, Fasah authorisation, border customs clearance. Al Rawnaq Motors handles all of it. You choose the car. We prepare every document. You drive it home or we ship it — whichever works for your country.

Drive It Across or Ship It — We Handle Both

Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar and Bahrain are all driveable from Dubai with the right export plates. We obtain your RTA blue export plates — valid for 14 days — handle the export insurance, and prepare your complete border crossing document set. If you prefer shipping, we coordinate directly with Jebel Ali Port carriers for RoRo and container options. Either way, every document is ready before you leave our showroom.

Every GCC Country Has Different Rules

We Know All of Them
Paragraph: Saudi Arabia requires SABER/SASO certification and only allows vehicles up to 5 years old. Oman requires a MAKASA statistical report — without it you pay 5% customs duty that you could have avoided. Qatar requires a Fasah electronic authorisation before the vehicle crosses. Kuwait imports are restricted to Kuwaiti nationals only. Bahrain enforces a strict 5-year age limit. We check your vehicle against your destination country’s exact rules before any money changes hands.

RTA Export Certificate, MAKASA, SABER

We are a licensed UAE car dealer with 15 years of GCC export experience. We prepare your RTA Export Certificate (Mulkiya cancellation), MAKASA report for Oman-bound vehicles, SABER compliance documentation for Saudi Arabia, Fasah electronic pre-authorisation for Qatar, and the complete customs declaration package for your destination country’s border authority — all in-house, before loading or departure.

HOW EXPORT FROM DUBAI TO GCC WORKS

How Car Export from Dubai to GCC Works
Section Subheading: From vehicle selection to your driveway in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain or Kuwait — every step managed by Al Rawnaq Motors.

1

Choose Your Vehicle & Confirm GCC Eligibility

Before you pay anything, we confirm that your chosen vehicle meets your destination country’s age limit, emission standard, and model eligibility. Saudi Arabia only accepts vehicles up to 5 years old and requires SABER compliance. Bahrain also enforces a 5-year limit strictly. Oman and Qatar accept vehicles under 5 years without restriction. Kuwait imports are restricted to Kuwaiti nationals. We confirm all of this — including whether your vehicle will pass the destination country’s registration inspection — before you sign anything.

2

UAE Export Documentation Prepared

We handle the complete UAE export process with RTA. This includes cancelling your vehicle’s Mulkiya (registration), obtaining the official RTA Export Certificate, and — if you are driving the car across the border — issuing your blue export plates with 14-day validity. You also need export insurance before the blue plates are issued — we arrange this at the same time. If the vehicle is financed, the bank’s eNOC (mortgage clearance) must be obtained first. We guide you through this step if needed.

3

Country-Specific Documents Prepared

For Saudi Arabia: we prepare the SABER/SASO compliance documentation and the Customs Bayan declaration. For Oman: we prepare the MAKASA statistical report — the UAE customs document that can exempt you from paying 5% customs duty at the Omani border if the vehicle is under 2 years old. For Qatar: we prepare the Fasah electronic authorisation that must be submitted before the vehicle crosses. For Bahrain: we prepare the complete shipping or land transport document package. Every country gets its own correctly formatted set.

4

Drive Across the Border or Ship — Your Choice

For Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar and Bahrain — driving is an option and often the fastest route. With your blue export plates, export insurance, RTA Export Certificate and border documents ready, you simply drive to the border crossing. The journey from Dubai to Riyadh is approximately 12 hours by road. Dubai to Muscat is about 4 hours. Dubai to Doha is approximately 7 hours. If you prefer, or if you are in Kuwait, we arrange RoRo or container shipping from Jebel Ali Port — transit to any GCC port is 1 to 3 days.

5

Border Customs Clearance & Registration Support

At the Saudi border you pay 5% customs duty plus 15% VAT on the assessed vehicle value, then proceed to MVPI inspection before registration. At Oman’s border crossings — Hatta, Mezyad, or Khatmat Milaha — you pay 5% VAT (customs duty waived if MAKASA is accepted). In Qatar, after Fasah authorisation, you pay 5% customs duty with no VAT currently applied. We provide a country-specific step-by-step checklist so you know exactly what to do at each border — and we are available on WhatsApp throughout the process.

Why Al Rawnaq

From vehicle selection to port delivery — Al Rawnaq Motors manages every step so you receive your car safely, fully documented, and on time.

1

We Know the GCC Border Process Better Than Most Customs Agents

We have been exporting cars from Dubai to Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar and Bahrain for 15 years. We know that forgetting the MAKASA report costs you 5% customs duty at the Omani border. We know that Saudi Arabia will reject a vehicle over 5 years old regardless of condition. We know the Fasah pre-authorisation must be active before you cross into Qatar. We build all of this into your document package before you drive out of our showroom — so you cross the border the first time, every time.

2

Blue Export Plates, Insurance, and the Complete Border Package

Most buyers don’t realise you need export insurance before the RTA will issue your blue plates — and those plates are only valid for 14 days. We arrange the insurance, apply for the plates, and have your complete border crossing package ready the same day you complete your purchase. Your RTA Export Certificate, MAKASA or SABER documentation, destination country customs declaration, and pre-shipment photo report — all ready before you leave Dubai.

3

Saudi Buyers, Oman Residents, Qatar Expats

Whether you are an expat relocating from Dubai to Riyadh and taking your car with you, a Saudi dealer sourcing Land Cruisers from the UAE market, an Omani resident crossing at Hatta on a weekend, or a Qatar-based buyer who found a better deal in Dubai — we have handled your situation before. We know which border crossing to use, which inspection centre to go to on the other side, and what the customs officer will ask for. We send you a WhatsApp checklist before you leave.

Frequently Asked Questions — Car Export
from Dubai to GCC Countries

Everything you need to know before exporting a car from the UAE.

Can I drive my car from Dubai to Saudi Arabia on export plates?

Yes. You obtain blue export plates from the RTA and must complete the drive within 14 days of receiving them. You also need export insurance before the RTA will issue the plates. At the Saudi border, you pay 5% customs duty plus 15% VAT on the assessed vehicle value, then proceed through MVPI inspection before registration. Al Rawnaq prepares your complete border crossing document set — RTA Export Certificate, SABER compliance letter, and Customs Bayan — before you leave Dubai.

What is the MAKASA report and do I need it for Oman?

A MAKASA report is a UAE customs document that proves the vehicle is being exported for the first time. If accepted by Omani Customs, it exempts the buyer from the 5% customs duty. It applies to vehicles under 2 years old. Without it, you pay 5% customs duty at the Omani border — which on a Land Cruiser can mean AED 5,000–15,000 extra. Al Rawnaq prepares the MAKASA report as part of our standard Oman export package.

What is the age limit for importing a car from UAE to Saudi Arabia?

Saudi Arabia allows vehicles with a maximum age of 5 years. This is strictly enforced — a vehicle manufactured in 2019 cannot be registered in Saudi Arabia in 2025 regardless of condition or mileage. For light vehicles over 5 years old, you need an approval from the Saudi Ports Authority confirming that the vehicle can be registered there. Al Rawnaq confirms model year eligibility for Saudi Arabia before purchase.

How long does it take to export a car from Dubai to GCC countries?

For drive-through exports, border crossing typically takes 1–3 days depending on your destination. Saudi Arabia and Oman are the quickest at 1–2 days. Qatar requires crossing via Saudi Arabia, adding 1–2 days. Kuwait and Bahrain take 2–4 days. If shipping by vessel, transit times are 3–7 days to all GCC ports. Al Rawnaq advises the best route for your specific country and vehicle.

What documents do I need to export a car from Dubai to GCC?

Required documents include: RTA Export Certificate, Export Plates, MAKASA Report, Original Mulkiya (vehicle registration), Commercial Invoice, SABER compliance certificate (for Saudi Arabia), and Fasah customs authorisation. Requirements vary slightly by country — Al Rawnaq prepares and verifies every document for your specific destination before handover.

How much does it cost to export a car from Dubai to Saudi Arabia?

Export costs from Dubai to Saudi Arabia include: UAE export documentation (AED 800–1,500), Saudi import duty (5% of vehicle value), VAT (15% in Saudi Arabia), and transport costs if shipping rather than driving. For a AED 150,000 vehicle the total landed cost estimate is typically AED 165,000–175,000. Contact Al Rawnaq for a precise landed cost calculation for your vehicle and destination.
